Superpowers

We all have superpowers. We just forgot them.

My aim is that every child finds their own superpower. Because we all have a superpower. The superpower we uniquely possess is what makes us the person we are. Aligning with this superpower, will bring your kids on their own unique path they are here for on earth. That’s why superpowers are so important.

So a superpower is a unique strength, a gift inside each of us. Bringing your child closer to this, is a gift you can make to your child. The sooner kids discover their own superpower, the easier and earlier they can have a sense of self-esteem, a sense of feeling emotionally balanced, emotional security and are far away from comparing themselves to others.

Children with Superpowers

Either the superpower is obvious when your child is very young or you sit down with your child when it’s a bit older and find it together.

Here are some questions you can go through with your child to find your child’s superpower:

- a superpower is a natural strength, a gift. It can be being good with people, at swimming, being good with numbers or connecting people with each other. Whatever it is find the real strength underneath the activities and personalities of your children. But first, at this point, explain what it is to your child.

- A superpower can be so natural to a child that it doesn’t feel special when you look for it. Show them that it is special, because not everyone has it like your child has.

- Once your child knows its own superpower, it will be different when your child actually uses the superpower. You might notice a shift in energy or a shift in spirit of your child.

- Affirm the superpowers when you see them in action. When you watch your child using the superpower, see what you notice and share it in an observing way. Remember, I always say praise the effort, not the result. So don’t affirm the results, just affirm when your child is using the superpower.

- teach your child that the best way to use the superpower is by helping others. This is when happiness comes in. Remember, we can only be truly happy – at least I believe – if we include some kind of community in what you are doing.

Have fun exploring the superpowers with your kids. You will see the difference once it is noticed. Also, there can be more than one superpower. But usually there are not too many. There the difference comes in between being interested in something and being compassionate about something. Go for the deep compassions.

How to develop superpowers for your kids

Superpowers are natural strengths of your child. You can help your child find what it is, so they can get strong in developing their superpowers.

One reason why a superpower is a superpower is because the powers are inherent to your child. They are naturally given. So no need to develop anything. The only thing you can develop is getting a habit in using your superpower and with consciously using your superpower you naturally get stronger in it, you can fine tune it and share your gift with the world. Look at my article ‘children with superpowers’ for more information how you help your child develop these superpowers. You can help your child look inside and ask the right questions so your child sees its own superpowers. Also, you can hold a mirror by reflecting what you see where your child is good at. But it should more be a talk of your child and you asking questions than you telling the child where its good at. So be careful with talking to much here.

The reflecting mirror is only thought for moments where you feel your child has found out what its superpowers are and you can reflect what you see in the area of the superpower. Also, careful, superpowers are different than talents. I hated when someone told me you are talented. That meant I couldn’t change anything about it. I was anyway talented. So it was not about me but about my talent. With superpowers it’s different. A superpower is supernatural, you just have it without praising your child too much for it. And this superpower you can develop with practice so it gets a super-superpower. So you can change something about your superpowers. You can even get better in them with practice. Go for it and help your child find its own superpowers.

My book

The true natural superpowers of your children are what is unique to every child. In my book ‘Superpowers for My Kids’, I talk about these superpowers.

My book covers every aspect of what you need to know as a parent and how you can support your child to strengthen its superpowers. And, also important, how you stay present with your child so you can support your child and are not occupied with your own issues. Being present with your child is crucial for your child to find its own superpowers. When your child is not feeling safe because you cannot provide this safety, it can also not focus on its own superpowers because it is all about feeling safe. It is like a life circle, one leads to the other. You can be an amazing parent and help your child by trying your best, I help you find your best version of you with this book.

Miracles and Superpowers

Is a superpower a miracle?

Remember, either you see the world through the lens that nothing is a miracle or you see the world as everything is a miracle. I prefer to see everything as a miracle. Yes, a superpower is a miracle. We humans are a miracle. Is it something far away? No. Like you know I believe we can draw miracles towards us and in this sense can create our miracle. Believing in your superpower is the true miracle. Be confident about your superpower. But the good news when you are truly connected to your superpower, there is no reason to tell you that you have to be confident about it, because you already know deep down inside that you can do it. This is the miracle. Trust in your superpower. We can do more than we think, if we believe in it. This is the superpower.

Top Seven Superpowers

My personal top ten of the superpowers

1. Living in the present moment. This is one of the best gifts given to anyone and you may realize, that when you are around kids, that you are actually living much more in the present moment.

2. Selective hearing. Sometimes your kids just don’t hear you when you are telling them something and they are, for example, in the middle of playing. How cool is it just to listen to what you actually want to listen to.

3. Having fun to play with little things. How many times do kids play role games or have a little piece of paper and play it is a car driving around in the jungle. I love to watch kids play and have fun with the little things.

4. Kids love to laugh. Being around kids makes you happier as they can show you how to laugh again. Laughing is one of the best parts of life. Kids have the superpower to laugh a lot.

5. Having a lot of energy. Sometimes it seems that kid are never out of energy, they are running around, then they go for a swim and then they play the whole day.

6. All kids are intuitive. Kids are closer to Source, where we all come from. Being connected to Source, is a superpower that is helping kids with anything they want. They just have to realize that they are connected. Like with all superpowers, you can train them to get better.

7. Every child has at least one unique superpower. It is a gift. Use it to be the unique amazing person you want to be. Find out what it is with your child and show your child that it can train this superpower to get better in it.
